Biographies

Barbara Heinisch is a teaching and research assistant at the Centre for Translation Studies and works as a translator and researcher at the University of Vienna. In her doctoral thesis, she focuses on the usability of the University’s terminological database for university-specific terminology. She is involved in various research projects including eTransFair, ACT, the EU Council Presidency Translator and the citizen science project On everyone’s mind and lips – German in Austria. Her research interests include usability, accessibility, machine translation, localisation, technical documentation, terminology and citizen science.

Katia Iacono has a master’s degree in conference interpreting from the Centre for Translation Studies (University of Vienna, Austria), where she is a PhD candidate. Her doctoral thesis focuses on interpreting in medical tourism in Austria and Germany with a special interest in the expectations and requirements faced by interpreters. She has been a freelance translator and interpreter since 2009 and her working languages are Italian, German, Spanish and English. She has also been a lecturer at the University of Vienna since 2012. Her main research interests include medical interpreting and translation/interpreting management.
