Biographies
Nina Reviers (TricS research group) holds an MA in Translation and Interpreting and a PhD in Translation Studies from the University of Antwerp. She is a lecturer and researcher in the field of Media Accessibility at the University of Antwerp and manager of the university’s newly founded Expertise Centre for Accessible Media and Culture OPEN. She is an Editorial Board Member of the Journal of Audiovisual Translation and Steering Committee member for Languages and the Media.

Hanne Roofthooft started a one-year pilot study in August 2015 on audio description for post-dramatic theatre financed by the University of Antwerp. A follow-up study started in 2017 and focuses on audio description and audio introduction for contemporary theatre. She is currently preparing a PhD at the Departments of Theatre, Film and Literature Studies and Applied Linguistics/Translators and Interpreters. Hanne received her Master’s degree in Film and Theatre Studies from the University of Antwerp in 2014. Her dissertation focused on the use and usefulness of semiotics for Theatre Studies.

Aline Remael (TricS research group) is Professor of Translation Theory, Interpreting and Audiovisual Translation/Media Accessibility at the Department of Applied Linguistics/Translators and Interpreters of the University of Antwerp. Her main research interests and publications are in AVT/Media Accessibility, including audio description (AD), and live subtitling with speech recognition. She is currently a partner in two European Erasmus+ accessibility projects (ADLAB PRO and ILSA) and is the co-founder of OPEN, the UAntwerp’s new ‘Expertise Centre for Accessible Media and Culture’. In 2018 she received the ESIST Jan Ivarsson Award for invaluable services to the field of audiovisual translation.
