Biography

Dr Maria-Cornelia Wermuth (PhD, Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam) is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Arts of KU Leuven and Head of the Research Group Translation and Technology. She teaches courses of German Linguistics, Terminology and IT and Medical translation. Her research areas are medical translation, terminology, translation tools, terminological computer applications and applied cognitive linguistics. She is an active member of the SNOMED International Translation User Group.

Dr Michel J. Walravens (MD, KU Leuven) is a rheumatologist. As a consultant at the University Hospital of Leuven for clinical and laboratory diagnostics of systemic autoimmune diseases, he was active in education, research and social patient organisations. Since 1990 he developed his own electronic health record, which led to his interest in SNOMED CT, for which he developed a special translation tool (CoMeTT).

Dr Marie-Alexandra Lambot (MD, Université Libre de Bruxelles) is a pathologist. She spent several years working in research and teaching before joining the Federal Public Health Service to work on medical data registration. She is currently adjunct to the medical direction of the CHU Saint-Pierre (Brussels), and the coordinator of the Belgian Community Support for Clinical Terminologies (CSCT), which she founded in October 2016.
