Biographies

Marcela Tancredi is a Higher Technical Interpreter of Uruguayan Sign Language-Spanish and a MA student in Language and Culture at the Universidad de la República (Udelar). She is a member of the Deaf Studies and Language Department and of the Interdisciplinary Nucleus on Accessibility and Communication at Udelar. Her research focuses on media accessibility, sign language interpreting and translation, and the textuality registered in Uruguayan sign language.

Leticia Lorier is a PhD student on the Programme in Communication at Universidade de Vigo (Spain). She has postgraduate studies in Language and Culture and literary translation and a Communication degree from the Universidad de la República (Udelar, Uruguay). She is a professor at the Information and Communication Faculty (Udelar). She co-coordinate the Interdisciplinary Nucleus on Accessibility and Communication (Udelar).

Yanina Boria is a PhD student in Linguistics at the Universidad de Buenos Aires and a Higher Technical Interpreter of Spanish- Argentine Sign Language. She is Director of Accessibility in the National Disability Office. She has been a professional interpreter of LSA since 2002. Her research focuses on the grammar of sign languages, the didactics of the translation of visuogestual languages and the teaching of sign languages as second languages.

Florencia Fascioli Álvarez works as a professor at the Humanities and Communication Department in the Universidad Católica del Uruguay. She is a PhD student at Universidade de Vigo and holds a Master’s in Audiovisual Translation from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. Her research focuses on film and media accessibility, with a special interest in accessible filmmaking (AFM) and audio description.
